My Story
CJ studied music at Sacramento State University, where he trained in classical and musical theatre voice. He teaches voice, piano, songwriting, and beginner voiceover, helping students develop healthy technique while building confidence both on stage and behind the microphone.
His passion for creating music began in high school through writing and recording original songs. He later expanded into piano and created an educational TikTok page that reached over 30,000 followers (@PianoWithCJ), inspiring beginners to begin their own musical journeys.
As a songwriter and composer, CJ wrote the music for Mask: The Prologue, an original musical film that premiered at the Rogue Theater Festival at The Flea in New York City in 2026. His passion for storytelling also led him into voice acting for independent films and animation, giving him a well-rounded perspective on performance, creativity, and communication.
CJ has experience in collegiate choir and musical theatre productions and is a member of the Areté Singers Network in the Bay Area. Drawing from his experience in live performance, songwriting, and voice acting, he enjoys helping students prepare for auditions, select repertoire that complements their voice, develop believable characters, and explore the fundamentals of voice acting.
Above all, CJ believes every student has their own unique musical journey. He finds the greatest reward in collaborating with students, helping them work toward their musical and vocal goals, and celebrating the progress they achieve through dedication and hard work.
